This year I have been blessed to coach a 5th grade girls basketball team. My first time coaching girls it has been a good experience for me. I have grown a lot as a coach and they have as players. These girls are rare, most of them are in the same school district and a lot of them have been knowing each other since they were five years old. They have great attitudes, personalities, and are super athletic for girls this age. I enjoy the mixture, they have so much potential to do well. I'm just glad I'm getting a chance to help build a foundation at this early stage of their lives.

We need more like you. I can tell you like to coach not just for the joy of the game, but more importantly for the love of your players.
That's awesome. My niece is an upcoming fifth grader and loves basketball. She's already taller than a lot of girls that I teach in high school, and her tenth grade brother has expressed concern that she's better than him in the game. It's great that there are opportunities to play outside the school environment.
Hearing you talk about your team is so inspiring! I wish we had more coaches like you.
Coach Marlon, I know you are an amazing coach. I'm sure those girls just love you!
Maybe we'll see you on the court this next year. Rachel will be playing on an AAU team in the fall. The only part I hate about that is, at some point I'm afraid she's gonna have to choose between softball and basketball. Not braggin' too much here, but she's pretty dang good at both! (has to be so that I can send her to college) This is my child that has two maps for her life...If she sticks with softball, then she wants to go to the University of Arizona and play. If she sticks with basketball, she wants her idol Pat Summit to still be coaching at the University of Tenn. so that she can play basketball for her. Lofty goals, but I'm glad she has something to work towards.
Good luck with your girls.
Hey Marlon, my oldest sister is a basketball and volleyball coach for Rosebud schools.
Marlon, I can tell you must be an outstanding coach! Your attitude is wonderful! Keep up the great work! Wish we had more like you!
Those girls and their families are lucky to have you as their coach. It takes a special person to coach 5th grade girls. lol!
